Note: This post has been sitting in draft form for a while. My vacation ended a week ago, but there were pictures I wanted to share from my sister.
Did I run while on vacation?
Well I brought two sets of running clothes, my Nathan belt, and some Nuun. And I used none of it. I didn’t run a single mile. I did however
- went water-skiing a couple times
- hiked a mile up and down the Sleeping Bear Dunes while carrying Jack
- Walked all over Traverse City.
So that counts for something, right? I’m sure it wasn’t enough to offset all the s’mores, hobo pies, ice cream and beer I had, but who cares. I was on vacation.
There is way too much to recap about last week, so a few highlights:
Buddy was in his element with a lake in his backyard, surrounded by nature. He didn’t want to leave. We don’t have many opportunities for him to go swimming, despite being a mile from Lake St. Clair. He had only been in water one other time and didn’t like it (maybe I shouldn’t have thrown him off the boat). He loved fetching his ball from the lake and only asked us to do so while it was daylight.
Many new beers were had (many not new beers were had as well, but I wont list those):
- Sam Adams Boston Lager (reminded me of NB Shift)
- North Peak Raspberry Ale
- North Peak Northern Light
- North Peak Diabolical IPA
- North Peak Siren Amber
- North Peak Mission Point Porter
- North Peak Shirley’s Irish Stout
- Short’s Key Lime Pie
North Peak was a really cool place. We also stopped next door to an Irish pub, where I had more of that Shirley’s Irish Stout. Shorts was cool too, but it was early so we didn’t sit down. We just grabbed a 6-pack to go. I’ll have to try more, I found it in a few stores around home. We also went wine tasting on Old Mission, so aside from the beers, I also tasted 13 different wines and one cherry brandy.
Hmmm I swear we did more than just eat junk food and drink. Anyway, we had a fun time and wish we could live up there. Now a barrage of photos:
