I think I avoided the post-race blues. I’m not sure if I should be happy about that. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to start planning ahead. I don’t foresee marathon #2 anywhere in the near future but I have some plans:
- Detroit Turkey Trot 10k. I PR’d last year and I hope to beat it this year.
- Participate in a Fat Ass run (see below)
- PoHo Hot Cocoa 8k. It was freezing, but I made new friends and got a sweet hoodie.
- Spring half marathon. There are a few to choose from. I’m interested in the RockCF and I can always return to Let’s Move.
One thing about training for the full marathon. I feel like it stopped me from running a lot of fun races. Sure money was probably the main reason, but there were a few that I thought would be fun to do, but I didn’t want it to mess with my training schedule.
Speaking of race fees, I’d really like to run one of the Fat Ass events that go on in the area. Fat Ass is a grassroots movement for people who want to race without all the overhead that typically comes with it. Their motto is: No Fees, No Awards, No Aid, No Wimps. That best describes it. I’ve already heard on Twitter about the possibility of a 6-hour run. That is, you don’t run a distance in the shortest time possible. Instead you have 6 hours to run as far as you can.
So that’s my thoughts. Anyone planing on running any of these events?
