This had to have been my longest break from consistent running. I’m weary to say it, but I’m back.
If anyone is still reading this: hello, are you ready for me to bore you once more?
Its been a rough several months. Nothing of which I will be getting into. Time for a clean slate and some goals to keep me on track.
1) Sign up for a race.
Anthony drew my attention to a race this May, the Weekend Warrior Half/25K/Marathon. I will be signing up for it before the prices jump. The race is out in Armada and a portion of it is on the Macomb Orchard Trail. My eager eyes are set on the 25K.
2) Start Training
Today marks day 1 of a 12 week training schedule. I’ve decided to (loosely) use Hal’s Novice 2 program. I don’t have the base miles to do anything more advanced. And I’m afraid of burnout. With everything non-training that is on my plate, easy goals of the novice program are just what I need to get back into shape.
3) 12 lbs in 12 weeks
Time to drop the Winter blubber. Sure, 12 lbs is far from my goal weight, but I think I can manage this stepping stone of a weight-loss goal. In the past few months, many friends have signed up for MyFitnessPal (username: RunRunJohnny). I’ve been off and on with it, but the plan is to stick with it for these next 12 weeks.
4) Blog More? Not exactly. While I will try and keep my progress posted, I won’t find myself blogging if I have no desire. Its OK. After this past hiatus, my hits are probably only from indexing robots.
