It looks like I have a couple minutes before the boys wake up to reboot this blog.
Yes, boys plural and I don’t mean Jack and Buddy.
Welcome Benny Vito.
So if you didn’t know, we had another baby boy in September. And rather than show you all my amateur pics of him, I’m just going to send you to my good friend, Miranda’s blog. She’s captured every life event since Lauren and I we’re engaged (and even earlier, since she was on yearbook in high school).
Jack Ran His First Race
I’ll never forget how proud of myself I was after my first half and my first full marathon. But that didn’t compare to the feeling I got from watching my son run his first race like a champ.
Jack ran the Detroit Free Press Kids Fun Run, which followed the 5k on Saturday. It was approximately 1 mile long, which had me a little nervous for my 4 year old, but I figured we could always walk. At the start, the announcer mentioned an option to finish at the 1/2 mile mark. So we were off and Jack was a rocket, trying his best to weave through everyone slower than him. I made him take 2 walk breaks early on, but noticed we were almost back to the start. I figured the 1/2 was one lap, so as we got close, I asked him if he wanted to go more. He eagerly agreed and as we got back we realized that we just finished the full race.
The kid didn’t even break a sweat! There was no timing, but Jack ran approximately a 10 minute mile. It looks like we have another runner in the family. And he will probably kick my ass in a couple years.
As for me. I got to go on a quick 5k this morning with Anthony. It was great to get out there on such a nice Fall morning. I hope to get out more and get some miles in again.
