Every time I think I’m back on track with running, I get derailed. I was all set to start winter running. I even got a few 5am runs in with some friends. I signed up for the Rock CF Half and then soon after, I fell flat on my face.
I’m in my final class of grad school and its killing me. I’d say this class takes about 20 hours of my week. Add that to 40+ hours of work and you’re left with nothing, really. Rock CF is about a month away, so a fire’s been lit. I will find some time to run again. And If that wasn’t enough, a second piece of motivation just reared itself. A friend posted a link to the kid’s Martian Marathon, which I think would be perfect for Jack. He needs to log 25 miles from now until the race in Mid-April, then on the day of the Martian Marathon, he gets to run the last 1.2 miles of the course with full crowd support.
I think this will be a perfect opportunity on many levels:
- Burn some of that endless energy.
- Spend time with my son
- I get to run.
- Jack gets a medal to be proud of and show off.
So while Rock CF will be more of a long, slow fun run for me, I still have the Detroit Half in October to get my body back in shape.
Just felt like I should write something here every once in a while, ya know?
